I’m sure everyone remembers the adrenalin fuelled crazyness of Channel 5’s Gadget Show. Not just content to report and show technology they also liked to try and build stuff to show how things worked. In one episode this involved a robot version of Jason Bradbury which they used to co-present with a holographic version of Suzi Perry. But the voice wasn’t up to scratch so they got in touch with CereProc.

We used recordings of Jason to produce a cloned voice which was then added to Robo Jas. As part of the Gadget Show life, we also helped tune the voice for the first ever robot stand-up act. This went down a bit better with the Gadget Show life audience than in the Glee comedy club in Birmingham . In a strange twist of fate I discovered that they booked Lee Ridley (Lost Voice Guy) as a support act. We later also built a Geordie voice for Lee so everything goes full circle.
Robojase’s comedy debut was featured in Series 18, Episode 10 of The Gadget Show. Below is a clip of the section of the gadget show (somewhere in series 17) where we tried out Robo Jas’s voice. It was a lot of fun.
